Over the weekend I found a very cool thing online. It has to do with “fiberarts”
Joe was asking me if Kip had heard of the artist Hundertwasser before– I said I would ask him, but first I looked up that artist online by doing a goog search in “images.”
Looking at Hundertwasser’s art, lead me to an image of something that looked really interesting called “The Magical Wrap.” The creator writes;
“The Magical Wrap came from an idea that I had about being a woman and wanting to be enclosed by something precious that I had made. It is also inspired by the saying below: Creativity is really the structuring of magic. I certainly do wear it and I do feel spectacular when I do. Some people laugh at it…….but heck, if it gives them a happy moment in time, then that is wonderful. But the best bit is that I feel wonderful. —Created by Susie Bowring-Miller”

So this art is called FREEFORM. I’d never heard of it before, and I was determined to find out more about it so I continued surfing and read this…
“What is freeform? Freeform crochet is like painting. The hook is a brush and the yarn a paint. The result can be abstract or realistic. Freeform is original design, not a reproduction of another person’s pattern, it goes beyond the realm of patterns and restrictions that usually apply toward our art. The outcome is a piece of art like no other, not only functional, but beautiful as well. Freeform includes 2-D and 3-D art, clothing and useful items.”
I like SOME of this art, but I think I like what they call “crochet scrumble” the best. Here’s how you do it.
–and here’s another awesome link! AUGH!!! and another one! and another!
I love looking at this stuff!

Oh my gosh! I had never heard of the artist Hundertwasser until this weekend. I was at a bookstore and was attracted to a calender and the artist was Hundertwasser! How cosmic is that? I checked out the freeform crocheting and that’s something I could do! Thanks for sharing!

I love this style of crocheting. It looks pretty simple, but I don’t think any of my “creations” would come out as cool as what I’ve seen.
Did you finish the candy scarf? I’ve done a couple scarves with the koigo yarn. I like your fringes better. I did corkscrews, which look cool, but not as funky.

Anna and Jif,
Both of you gals should try this type of fiberarts too!
Kim,
I haven’t finished my candy scarf yet. I had to frog about 5 inches of it because I saw a boo boo (it was driving me nuts.) Then I put it in a sewing bag –to hide it from the cats that drag out ALL my knitting projects if they aren’t zipped up tight– but now I can’t find it!
No
After I finish a hat I am working on, I will look for it. I do really want to finish it!
Jenn,
I probably will play around with this type of art during my holiday break from work. Right now I must keep focused on getting some of my OTHER half finished projects completed, before I get started on something brand new!! Augh!!

(this was not a paid indoresement for the artist Hundertwasser)
Have a nice night.
